Exhibition Loans

The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (BECPL) is privileged to house a collection of rare and unique materials. The BECPL Board of Trustees is responsible for the preservation of these treasures and for sharing them with the community under conditions that do not subject them to potential loss or damage. Authority for all decisions regarding the management, development or disposition of the collection resides with the Board of Trustees or its designee. Reproductions and Permissions

Reproduction of materials is at the discretion of the Rare Book librarian as condition of materials may prohibit reproduction. All photocopying is undertaken by the Library staff.

Photographic reproduction of any Library materials whether for personal use or publication requires Library permission. In either case, you must complete one of the following forms:

Authorization Request for Reproductions --  Personal Use Form
Authorization Request for Reproductions --  Publication Form

Permission to reproduce or photograph material does not imply permission to publish. It is the patron's obligation to satisfy copyright regulations when copying or using materials found in the collection.

Requesting and Using Materials

Items in the Rare Book Room collection can be found by searching the library’s online catalog. Because of the nature of the rare book collection, additional policies pertain to it. All researchers are subject to the Rare Book Room Terms of Access.
