    Sit-down, full-color, auto-focus video magnifier unit available for public use in the library (16 levels of magnification).

    Volunteer Opportunities

    Volunteer Policy (pdf)

    Individuals interested in volunteering at the B&ECPL must fill out a Volunteer Application (pdf) and a Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release form (pdf).  Volunteers under the age of 17 will be designated as Junior Volunteers and must have parental approval to volunteer. 

    Volunteers will be accepted based on the library’s project and programmatic needs matched with the individuals’ qualifications/interests as determined during the selection process.  The library may not accept every volunteer application.  A background check and/or reference checking may be required before any volunteer can begin an assignment.


    Community Room Reservation Requests

    Community Room Reservation Requests are made online via a link on the Town of West Seneca web site .  West Seneca Public Library events and certain Town of West Seneca meeting functions receive priority for scheduling purposes.

    Beyond these West Seneca Public Library or Town events, the Community Room is intended for use for free public events, workshops, educational classes and meetings.  Documentation naming the Town of West Seneca as additional insured during a meeting/event will be required.  

    A representative of the West Seneca Public Library or Town of West Seneca will respond to the online Community Room Reservation Request as soon as possible.

    The West Seneca Public Library features 5 study rooms available for use during regular library hours.  The rooms are intended for informal individual or small group use and are not to be used for commercial purposes.  Rooms may be booked for up to 2 hours per day.  For more information or to book a time slot, please stop by the library or call us at 674-2928.

      March 2025- MARCH REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH 

      • Knitting & Crochet Circle (pdf)-  Mondays from 1:30-3:30 PM (in-person program).  Space will be limited.
      • Mario Day Party (pdf)- It's back! We're holding another Mario Day Party this year, on Saturday, March 1st at 1pm. There will be all sorts of fun and games to join in on.       • CANCELED- Credit and Money Workshop (pdf)- Patrons ages 17+ can join us on Monday, March 3rd at 6:30pm in the Community Room for a Credit and Money Workshop led by a HOPE Financial Wellbeing Coach.       • Kids Craft: Shamrock Guy (pdf)- Kids ages 5-12 can join Miss Emily for a fun shamrock guy craft on Monday, March 10th at 5pm. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or visit the library to register or for more information.
      • Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, March 13th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult.  All materials will be provided by the library.  Space will be limited and registration is required.       • German-Speaking Aliens in the Library: with Chris Heffner (pdf)- Dr. Chris Heffner has been investigating the ways that our ability to learn languages and adjust to challenging speech can change as we age, anywhere from childhood to older adulthood and everything in between. Join us on Saturday, March 15th at 11am, as he lays out his findings in a short talk and discussion! Space will be limited and registration is required.       • Narcan Training (pdf)- There will be a Narcan Training held in the Community Room on Saturday, March 15th at 1pm. To register for this program, you must contact the trainers either by emailing narcan.training@erie.gov or calling 716-858-7695. You cannot register for this training by contacting the library.
      • Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance?  We can help!  These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Tuesday, March 18th between 10am and 4pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.
      • Independent Preschool Story Time Ten Week Session (pdf)- Preschoolers (ages 3 1/2 to 5) can join Miss Emily for a 10-week parent-free Preschool Story Time at 6pm, starting on Tuesday, January 14th and 21st; February 11th, 18th, and 25th; March 18th and 25th; and April 1st, 15th, and 22nd. If you sign up, it is for all ten sessions! Space will be limited. Registering signs you up for every session for that time period- call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up. - this program is full!
      • Baby & Me Twelve Week Session (pdf)- You and your baby (ages 0-24 months) can join Miss Emily for Baby & Me! Wednesdays at 9:30am or 10:30am on January 15th, 22nd, and 29th; February 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th; March 19th and 26th; and April 2nd, 9th, and 16th! If you sign up, it is for all twelve sessions!       • Teen Art Night: Melted Crayon Art (pdf)- Teens ages 11-17 can come to the library for a fun crayon melting art program! The program will take place on Thursday, March 27th at 5:30pm.       • Author Talk: Mary Jean Zajac (pdf)- Join us Thursday, March 27th at 6:30pm for an author talk with local author Mary Jean Zajac, the author of the Cetta Borski mystery series.       • West Seneca Public Library Book Club (pdf)- Monday, March 31st at 6:30 PM.       • A History of Earth Day with John Szalasny (pdf)-  Join John Szalasny on Saturday, April 12th at 11am in the community room to explore the interesting history of Earth Day, a day for raising awareness about and promoting the protection of our planet.       • Family Escape Room (pdf)- Families can join us on Monday, April 14th for a fun escape room! Sessions are available between 10am and 12pm, as well as between 2:15pm and 6pm.       • The Storybook Cook: Liz Bauld Presents Slow Cooker Creations (pdf)- Join Storybook Cook Liz Bauld on Monday, April 14th at 6pm as she demonstrates a few of her go-to meals made in a slow cooker, including a dessert. TAG members will help provide insight on how to better serve teens, help plan and implement programs, meet new people, and gain volunteer hours, experience, and leadership skills.       • West Seneca's Historic Neighborhoods with Jim Pace (pdf)- Join local historian Jim Pace on Monday, April 28th at 6:30pm for an informative evening where he will discuss historic neighborhoods in the West Seneca area, including Ebenezer, Gardenville, Winchester, and more!       The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk.       Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

      The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

      The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here (pdf).

      Next meeting: The next Friends meeting will take place on Thursday, March 13th at 6:30pm in the West Seneca Public Library's Makerspace.

       

      West Seneca School Yearbook Collection

      The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.
