May 2025- MAY REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, APRIL 11TH

  • Handicraft Club (pdf)-  Join our handicraft club on Mondays from 1:30-3:30pm. We welcome all sorts of handicrafts including knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, and needlework. Beginners and experts are all welcome!  For more information please contact the West Seneca Public Library, 1300 Union Rd, West Seneca, NY 14224 at (716) 674-2928.  Space will be limited. Masks are not required but are encouraged along with social distancing.  No food or drink is permitted in the Makerspace.
  • Toddler Time Twelve Week Session (pdf)- Toddlers (ages 2 to 3 1/2) can join us with their parent or guardian on Thursdays at 10am or 11am on January 30th; February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th; March 20th and 27th; April 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th; and May 1st for Toddler Time! If you sign up, it is for all twelve sessions! Space will be limited. Registering signs you up for every session for that time period- call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up.- both session times are full!
  • Teen Paint 'n Sip (pdf)- Teens ages 12-17 can join us on Saturday, May 3rd at 12pm for a fun paint and sip program! Beverages and painting supplies will be provided. Space will be limited and registration is required- please stop by the library or call 716-674-2928 to register or for more information!
  • University Express: Beginner Watercolor Painting (pdf)- This program takes place on Monday, May 5th at 5:30pm. The teacher will talk about the different types of watercolors available, the different types of paper that can be used, and the different brushes.  Attendees will do a hands-on watercolor painting using their newfound skills, and the teacher will try to help attendees figure out what minimal supplies they will need if they decide to pursue their new hobby! Registration is required!   • Baby Rave (pdf)- Miss Emily will be hosting a baby rave in the community room on Tuesday, May 6th at 6pm! This baby-friendly rave is for those ages 0-24 months and their caregivers. Baby raves teach young children about music and movement through a fun interactive experience! Please note, there will be flashing lights and older siblings will not be permitted inside the room for safety reasons! Space will be limited and registration is required.   • Lego Club (pdf)-  Saturday, May 10th from 11am-12:30pm and Tuesday, May 20th from 6pm-7:30pm. For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures.   • Author Talk: John Stanz (pdf)- Join local author John Stanz at the West Seneca Public Library on Saturday, May 10th at 1:30pm for a fun program in the Community Room. Suited best for ages 3-10.   • Kids Craft: Mini Flower Garden (pdf)- Kids ages 5-12 can join Miss Emily for a fun mini flower garden craft on Monday, May 12th at 5pm. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or visit the library to register or for more information.
  • Credit and Money Workshop (pdf)- Patrons ages 17+ can join us on Monday, May 12th at 6:30pm in the Community Room for a Credit and Money Workshop led by a HOPE Financial Wellbeing Coach.   • Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, May 15th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult.  All materials will be provided by the library.  Space will be limited and registration is required.   • West Seneca Public Library Book Club (pdf)- Monday, May 19th at 6:30 PM. Discussing The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore. Event takes place in the Makerspace.  For more information please contact the West Seneca Public Library at 716-674-2928.  Space will be limited. No food or drink is permitted.
  • Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance?  We can help!  These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Tuesday, May 20th between 10am and 4pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.
  • University Express: Cards for Wishes (pdf)- This program takes place on Wednesday,  May 21st at 11am. Make a difference in our community by joining the "Cards for Wishes" class, a vibrant and heartwarming University Express class where older adults come together to create handmade cards for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Led by the AmeriCorps Seniors Retired Senior Volunteer Program’s (RSVP)  craft-master Cindy Solly, this free, one-hour class is all about spreading joy and making a difference while having a blast! You'll learn cool card-making techniques, get creative with different materials, and share laughs with new friends.   • Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting (pdf)- Teens can join us on Thursday, May 22nd for our second Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting at 6pm. TAG members will help provide insight on how to better serve teens, help plan and implement programs, meet new people, and gain volunteer hours, experience, and leadership skills.   • Life-Size Candyland (pdf)- You and your family can join us for a fun life-size Candy Land game on Saturday, May 24th, with slots available between 11am and 3:45pm! Space will be limited and registration is required. To register, please visit the library or call 716-674-2928.
  • Library Discards Book Sale (pdf)- We will be holding our Library Discards Book Sale starting at 2pm on Friday, May 23rd. The sale will then run during our open hours through Saturday, June 7th. Please note, the library will be closed on Monday, May 26th for Memorial Day.

  • University Express: USS The Sullivans: The Sinking and the Way Forward (pdf)- On Monday, June 2nd University Express is holding a talk about the sinking of the WWII destroyer USS The Sullivans, how it occurred, and how it has been handled.   • Alzheimer's Association: Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body (pdf)- Tuesday, June 3rd at 6:30pm. The Alzheimer's Association will present information on how to stay healthy as you age.  Space will be limited and registration is required.   • University Express: Become an RSVP Volunteer (pdf)- Join University Express for an engaging class for adults eager to explore the world of volunteering in Erie County! Library of Things

The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk. These items must be checked out and returned at the West Seneca Public Library's circulation desk. For a list of the things available to checkout, please see the following link! Friends of the West Seneca Public Library

The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.  

The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser!  Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace!  Full details here (pdf).

Next meeting: The next Friends meeting will take place on Monday, May 19th at 6:30pm in the West Seneca Public Library's Community Room.

 

West Seneca School Yearbook Collection

The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use.  A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.

A special thank you to the West Seneca Central School District and the West Seneca West Alumni for their generous efforts in helping to assemble this collection of yearbooks!
