November 2024- NOVEMBER REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11TH
- Knitting & Crochet Circle (pdf)- Mondays from 1:30-3:30 PM (in-person program). Space will be limited.
- Legislator Lorigo's Toiletries for Veterans Drive (pdf)- Donations of toiletries will be accepted at the West Seneca Public Library from November 1st through November 29th during our open hours. Items collected in this bin will be dispersed to both local veterans and overseas service members in need. They are accepting donations of soap, body wash, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant, shaving cream, bandages, towels, and more!
- Lego Club (pdf)- Saturday, November 2nd at 11am-12:30pm and Tuesday, November 26th from 5PM-6:30PM. For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures. - THIS PROGRAM IS GOING TO BE RESCHEDULED- Financial Literacy Story Time (pdf)- Families with kids of all ages are welcome to join us at a Financial Literacy Story Time on Saturday, November 2nd at 2pm. This story time will be presented by the Western New York Federal Credit Union! Space will be limited. Registration is required- call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up.
- Independent Preschool Story Time (pdf)- Preschoolers (ages 3 1/2 to 5) can join Miss Emily for a 10-week parent-free Preschool Story Time at 6pm, starting on Tuesday, October 1st and continuing through October 8th, 15th, 22nd; November 5th, 12th, and 19th, and December 3rd, 10th, and 17th. - CSPAN Lab of UB- The Cognition, Speech Perception, and Auditory Neuroscience (CSPAN) Lab of UB will be coming to the West Seneca Public Library to conduct a brief research study! Participation involves completion of a behavioral task on the computer or iPad and takes about 20-30 minutes. Visitors ages 7 and up may be eligible. Parents must be briefly present in order for children to participate! The CSPAN Lab will be at the West Seneca Public Library on Thursday, November 7th and Thursday, November 14th from 5pm-8pm.
- The Business of Music Workshop- Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and Three2Go Music Alliance present The Business of Music Workshop- Stay in tune with the business and take control of your music career! This free event will take place at the West Seneca Public Library Community Room on Thursday, November 7th at 6pm. No registration is required for this program.
- Dare to Repair Café (pdf)- Join us in the West Seneca Public Library Community Room on Saturday, November 9th from 11am-2pm for a Dare to Repair Café! This is a pop-up community event where individuals can bring broken items and have a team of volunteer fixers try to repair the items alongside them for free! Repair categories includes small appliances, lamps, electronics, bicycles, clothing and textiles. Please, no gas powered items or TVs. You must register to attend by visiting thetoollibrary.org/daretorepair. This event is sponsored by the Tool Library.
- Baby & Me (pdf)- You and your baby (ages 0-24 months) can join Miss Emily for Baby & Me! Wednesdays at 9:30am or 10:30am on November 13th, 20th, and 27th and December 4th, 11th, and 18th! This program will take place in the library's Community Room. Space will be limited and registering signs you up for every session- call the Library to register at 716-674-2928, or stop in to sign up.
- Toddler Time (pdf)- Toddlers (ages 2 to 3 1/2) can join us with their parent or guardian on Thursdays at 10am or 11am on November 14th, 21st, and December 5th, 12th, and 19th for Toddler Time! - Teen STEM: Index Card Castles (pdf)- Teens ages 11-17 can join us in the Makerspace on Thursday, November 14th at 5pm for a fun STEM program where we will build castles out of index cards! - West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Trade Show/Wellness Fair/Job Fair (pdf)- Saturday, November 16th from 10am-2pm in the West Seneca Community Center and Library. The trade show, wellness fair, and job fair will all feature a variety of vendors available to provide more information about their organizations and what they do. There will also be several speakers featured throughout the event. No registration is required for this event.
- Narcan Training with the Erie County Department of Health (pdf)- Monday, November 18th from 6pm-7:30pm. You will learn Erie County-specific data on opioid overdoses, how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, the steps taken to administer Narcan (naloxone), and the legal protections for those who assist in an overdose situation. Space will be limited and registration is required. You cannot register for this program through the library.
- Charcuterie 101 (pdf)- Tuesday, November 19th from 11am-12:30pm. Join Liz Bauld as she shows you how to make a couple of beautiful charcuterie boards. With the holidays coming up, this is a great opportunity to learn how to put together some delicious food using this fabulous presentation. This class will be demonstration style, but after Liz shows you how to make easy "meat roses", you will have the opportunity to try your hand at the process. - Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, November 21st from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult. All materials will be provided by the library. Space will be limited and registration is required. - Painting for Fun with the West Seneca Art Society (pdf)- Kids ages 5-11 can join the Art Society for a fun painting program! This program takes place on Saturday, November 23rd at 11am. - Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance? We can help! These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd between 10am and 4pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.

- "Noon Year's Eve" Party (pdf)- Join us at the library for a "Noon Year's Eve" party on Monday, December 30th at 11am! This program welcomes everyone, but will mostly be geared towards ages 4-10. Library of Things
The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk. Friends of the West Seneca Public Library
The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.
The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser! Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace! Full details here (pdf).
Next meeting: The next Friends meeting will take place on Thursday, March 13th at 6:30pm in the West Seneca Public Library's Makerspace.
West Seneca School Yearbook Collection
The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use. A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.
A special thank you to the West Seneca Central School District and the West Seneca West Alumni for their generous efforts in helping to assemble this collection of yearbooks!
