What is Interlibrary Loan?

You can use Interlibrary Loan to borrow items not owned by The Buffalo and Erie County Library system.

You can request:

  • Books
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • Music on CD
  • DVDs 
  • Individual articles or book chapters
  • Microfilm

*Some restrictions apply. B&ECPL reserves the right to refuse to accept photocopy requests when it is believed that fulfillment of the order would result in a violation of copyright law.  

We do not borrow:

  • TV series
  • eBooks
  • Rare books
  • Reference books
  • Entire magazine/ journal issues

Items from the Central Library’s non-circulating collection may be sent to your library for special checkout or In Library Use Only.  If we cannot supply the item, we can request it for you through Interlibrary Loan.  Request form link
