Lancaster Public Library

Kits
We have a variety of kits available for a 7-day loan. Kits must be returned to the Lancaster Library information desk during open hours.

  • Accessibility/sensory Kits - Useful kits to help children develop skills in social/emotional management, fine/gross motor skills, and sensory/calming management. Kits include a social-emotional learning kit, emotional management toolkit and accessories, try before you buy fidget kit, basic gross motor skills kit, finger strengthening kit, oral-motor skills kit, sorting games kit, handwriting tools kit, wobble balance board, scooter board, step-a-forest, therapy balls, agility ladder, and a hair puller/skin picker fidget kit. In-library items include noise-cancelling headphones, a wobble cushion, a high contrast keyboard, and various fidget toys.
     
  • Citizen Science Kits - A citizen science kit holds everything needed to gather data for a specific citizen science project. Borrow Exploring Biodiversity, Firefly Watch, Lost Ladybug Project, Measuring Light in the Night, Monitoring Air Quality, Observing Pollinators, Project Squirrel, ZomBee Hunting, and Animal Tracks (in the Snow).
  • Empire Pass - An empire pass permits free vehicle access to New York State parks. Visit places such as Beaver Island, Niagara Falls, Letchworth, and more.
  • Garden Tools - Helpful tools to help you plant, grow, and harvest. Tools include pruners, trowels, hand seeders, cultivators, and more. 
  • Learning Kits - Borrow adult coloring, birdwatching, hiking, family gardening, advanced gardening, butterfly watching, scavenger hunt, and fishing rods.
  • Literacy Kits - Borrow The Hungry Little Caterpillar, letters, colors & shapes, knitting & crocheting, fairy tales STEM, numbers, handwriting, phonics, and sign language.
  • Memory Kits - These kits feature a variety of items to inspire memories, discussion, and interaction with people experiencing memory loss. Themes: animals, movies/tv, history, and games. 
  • STEAM-to-Go Kits - These kits enrich STEAM activities for educators, parents/guardians, and homeschool families. Kits include Ready, Set Kindergarten, Understanding our Universe, Trucks and Tools, and Biscuit® Phonics. 

Seed Library
Our seed library provides free seeds for our community to grow and share. We have a variety of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds. Patrons/families are allowed up to 4 seed packets per year. Seeds have been donated by patrons and seed companies. Seeds can be donated to our library by completing a donation form and bringing the form and seeds to the information desk. It's our goal for the library to promote gardening, seed saving, and seed sharing. Happy gardening! View our selection of gardening books.

Yard Games
We have several yard games available for a 7-day loan. Borrow Corn Hole, Giant Jenga, Ring Toss, Bocce, Lawn Darts, Croquet, or Kan Jam for your next party! Yard games must be returned to the Lancaster Library information desk during open hours.

STEM Kits: Origami Jumping Frog Challenge
All May long
Create an origami jumping frog by picking up a free STEM kit to experiment with at home. For ages 7 and up. While supplies last. 

Tiny Art Show

Stop by the library by May 18 to drop off your completed artwork. All entries will be submitted in a drawing to win a prize. For all ages.

Comic Book Club

Chicken BBQ
Sunday, May 19, 11:30 a.m. 'til sold out
The Friends of the Lancaster Library invite you to a chicken BBQ. BW's chicken dinner: $16. Chicken dinner includes potato salad, coleslaw, roll with butter, and a cookie. All proceeds will help keep the library open on Sundays during the school year.

T'ai Chi Chih

Summer Reading Raffle- 4 BIG prizes
June 1 - August 22
Check out books to win! Kids 12 & under receive 1 raffle ticket for every 5 print books checked out. Teens 13 – 17 receive 1 raffle ticket for every 3 print books checked out. Prizes include: Squishmallows, games, grill play set, and a grand city station. Prizes are funded by contributions from our generous donors.

Summer Reading Log/Challenge and BINGO
June 26 - August 31
Kids: Read 10 books, color in a reading log or complete a reading challenge and turn it in for a fun prize. Ages 17 and under. 
Teens & Adults: Grab a BINGO board and read. Turn in your card at the information desk and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a giant Sorry® game or pickleball set.

STEM Kits: DIY Sundial

LEGO® Club

Tech 360 Computer Class
Monday, June 17 and Monday, June 24, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Adults will learn basic computer skills (computer usage, Windows, internet basics, and email basics) with help from a trainer. Participants must attend both sessions. Paws for Love: Read to a Dog

Digital Navigator Computer Help
Mondays, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Need help with technology? Book a Digital Navigator. Adults can receive one-on-one technology help with a trained teacher. A Digital Navigator can assist you with the following: computer basics, organizing files, flash drives, setting up an email, online forms/applications, cellphone basics, printing/scanning, and borrowing eBooks (Libby). Free Math Help
