Zorah Berry Collection

Zorah Berry Collection

Zorah Berry (1889-1969) was a concert promoter who brought hundreds of world-renowned musical performers to Buffalo during her 40-year career.  Her collection of music concert programs and scrapbooks of newspaper articles documenting the concerts she presented was donated to the B&ECPL in 1975.

Sally Schaefer studied the Zorah Berry collection in the summer of 2019 during her Special Collections Internship sponsored by riverrun.  Sally holds a Masters degree in Ethnomusicology and is completing a Masters in Library and Information Science at the University at Buffalo. As a musician with experience in concert management, Sally’s experience and passion for music were a perfect fit for this project.

Her research delved into Berry’s impact on Buffalo’s music scene, and the performers she chose to promote (pdf).
