Pvt. Willard W. Pierce

Here is a photograph and selection of letters of Pvt. Willard W. Pierce. Pierce was born in Elma, New York in 1896 and grew up a few miles away in Marilla.  In World War I he served in 2nd Army Corps, 77th Division, Company B 304th Machine Gun Battalion and the 77th Division Headquarters' Troop, mostly in clerical positions but also received machine gun training.  Pierce died in Wyoming in 1980.
