June 2025- JUNE REGISTRATION OPENS FRIDAY, MAY 9TH
- Handicraft Club (pdf)- Join our handicraft club on Mondays from 1:30-3:30pm. We welcome all sorts of handicrafts including knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, and needlework. No food or drink is permitted in the Makerspace.
- University Express: USS The Sullivans: The Sinking and the Way Forward (pdf)- On Monday, June 2nd University Express is holding a talk about the sinking of the WWII destroyer USS The Sullivans, how it occurred, and how it has been handled. - Alzheimer's Association: Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body (pdf)- Tuesday, June 3rd at 6:30pm. The Alzheimer's Association will present information on how to stay healthy as you age. - Lego Club (pdf)- Saturday, June 7th and June 28th from 11AM-12:30 PM. For ages 5 to 12. Free build with single-person Lego bins and selectable mini figures. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or visit the library for more information.
- Painting for Fun for Adults with the West Seneca Art Society (pdf)- Adults (17+) can join the West Seneca Art Society on Tuesday, June 10 at 5:30pm for a Painting for Fun program! All supplies will be provided by the art teacher. Space will be limited and registration is required. Please call 716-674-2928 or stop by the library to register!
- Fuse Beads (pdf)- Thursday, June 12th from 5pm-6:30pm. Choose a design and create your own decorations with Perler Beads! Recommended for Ages 6+. Children under 6 years old must be attended by an adult. All materials will be provided by the library. Space will be limited and registration is required. - Teen STEM: Index Card Flip Books (pdf)- Teens ages 12-17 can join us for a fun Teen STEM program on Saturday, June 14th at 11am. We will be making comic flip books out of index cards! - University Express: Become an RSVP Volunteer (pdf)- Join University Express for an engaging class for adults eager to explore the world of volunteering in Erie County! This class takes place on Tuesday, June 17th at 5:30pm, and is for those 55 and up. Space will be limited and registration is required. - Book a Technology Trainer (pdf)- Need computer assistance? We can help! These free 45 minutes sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Our next sessions will take place on Monday, June 23rd between 11am and 2pm. Topics include training on the Microsoft Office suite and even how to download books onto your tablet or phone. Sessions are on the hour, and registration is required by calling 716-674-2928 or stopping by the West Seneca Public Library information desk.
- Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting (pdf)- Teens can join us on Thursday, June 26th for our third Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meeting at 6pm. TAG members will help provide insight on how to better serve teens, help plan and implement programs, meet new people, and gain volunteer hours, experience, and leadership skills. - Author Talk: Nicole Shields (pdf)- Adults and young adults can join us on Saturday, June 28th at 2pm for a local author visit with Nicole Shields, author of Beyond 25: A Life I Never Imagined. Nicole will share impactful moments from the book, discuss mental health and peer support, lead a guided activity, and end with a Q & A and book signing. - Summer Reading Kickoff: Art Carnival (pdf)- Join us on Monday, June 30th from 5pm-7pm for our Summer Reading Kickoff Art Carnival! This all ages art carnival will include various stations featuring different types of art activities. There will also be a taste-safe sensory area for those 24 months and under! - Baby & Me (pdf)- On Wednesday, July 9th and 30th at 9:30 or 10:30am, babies ages 0-24 months and their parent or guardian can join Miss Emily for a fun lap-sit story time session. - Artist Series: Alma Woodsey Thomas (pdf)- Kids ages 5-12 can join us for a new artist series where they will learn about different artists and create artwork inspired by them. Our first session, which will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 3pm, will focus on Alma Woodsey Thomas. Space will be limited and registration is required. - Stuffed Animal Sleepover (pdf)- From Friday, July 11th to Saturday, July 12th we will be hosting a stuffed animal sleepover for the stuffies of kids ages 3-8. This fun program involves dropping off your stuffy at 3:30pm on Friday for a night of fun at the library, then picking them up the next morning at 10:30am to have breakfast with everyone, and see what they got up to! - Music with Miss Jessica: U 2 Can Uke Part 1 (pdf)- Kids ages 8-12 can join Miss Jessica for a fun ukulele lesson on Wednesday, July 16th at 11am. Library of Things
The West Seneca Public Library has a small collection of "things" other than books, DVDs, and CDs, that can be checked out at the desk. These items must be checked out and returned at the West Seneca Public Library's circulation desk. For a list of the things available to checkout, please see the following link! Friends of the West Seneca Public Library
The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library are community members with an interest in supporting the services offered by the library. The Friends also provide funding for books, programs and supplies for children and adults.
The Friends have an ongoing fundraiser! Purchase a personalized, hand-carved wooden book which will be displayed in the library over the fireplace! Full details here (pdf).
Next meeting: The next Friends meeting will take place on Monday, May 19th at 6:30pm in the West Seneca Public Library's Community Room.
West Seneca School Yearbook Collection
The West Seneca Public Library now has several West Seneca school yearbooks (pdf) available for in-library use. A list of the volumes included in the collection (along with volumes that we do not yet have) can be found via the link above.
