Location

In Williamsville (located in the Town of Amherst), on Hopkins Road, north of Maple Road and just south of West Klein Road. (Between the Clearfield Recreation Center & Plaza Drive). Parking at both entrances, in front of the library along Hopkins, as well as behind library. The back entrance has an automated door, making it best for accessible entry.

Plenty of free parking is available. A playground is located behind the tennis courts, adjacent to the library. Please note that the area is busier in the summer months due to the Clearfield Pool & Splash Park and seasonally with various programs by Amherst Youth & Recreation.

    • For adults, 10 desktop computers and 1 laptop for in-library use -- with Microsoft Office Applications (2016), Internet Access, etc.; Flatbed scanner available;

      5 computers dedicated for youth;
      Printing and Mobile Printing charges: Black & White 10 cents per page, Color 25 cents per page. "What can I do at a Public Access Computer?"

  • Meeting Room, capacity 80. Please review the Library Meeting Room Policy prior to booking, there are 6 tables & 50 chairs available for use. Please note that capacity does not take into account chairs or tables. Groups may specify setup needs, but are responsible for final placement. There is a TV with HDMI capabilities and its use must be requested at time of reservation.

  • Drop Box attached to building, for returned library material, open 24/7.
  • Self check-out machines using RFID technology
  • Ongoing Book Sale in library during open hours. 
     

What's Special About the Amherst Public Library

  • We offer an extensive collection of non-print materials, including DVDs/Blu-Rays, audiobooks on CD and many genres of music CDs. The Amherst Libraries also have a Library of Things collection and read-along books for youth (VOX & Wonderbooks).
  • We host a wide variety of events for all ages and fundraise by having big & pop up book sales throughout the year.
  • The garden adjacent to Hopkins Road is maintained by the Town & Country Garden Club. Patrons can help to grow the garden by donating their Dash’s receipts to help raise money to purchase plants.

    Attorney and financial planner Valerie Stanek will be presenting an informational seminar at Clearfield Library titled "Is your will at odds with your financial plan?"  She will discuss how financial planners and attorneys approach estate planning and how this can sometimes result in unintended consequences due to conflicting strategies.  She will also address ways to avoid these conflicts.

    Your eco explorers will become dendrologist detectives and learn how to use clues such as bark, leaves, and seeds to identify two dozen common tree species in Western New York! This program is for anyone ages 8 and up.

    There will be a volunteer computer coach at the Clearfield Library on Wednesday mornings beginning April 1 from 10:30am-12pm.  The volunteer is  available on a first come, first served basis for anyone who wants help with their computer skills, phone or tablet.  Assistance is dependent on availability of volunteers.
