Bastedo is Executive Director of Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center, Hamburg Natural History Society, Inc., a 54-acre outdoor educational site focusing on fossil collecting, geology, astronomy, birding, and other natural sciences. The Penn Dixie Site has hosted visitors from 39 states and 11 countries. It is poised to become a major lifelong learning center for students of all ages.
