• Buffalo & Erie County Public Library To Sponsor Read Down Your Fines Program Again This Summer
  Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library is sponsoring a Read Down Your Fines program for children age 16 and under, from now through Saturday, September 5, announced Director Bridget Quinn-Carey. more


• Central Library To Hold Sale Of Used Books And Gift Merchandise July 23-24
  Buffalo, NY – The Novel Ideas Store at the Central Library, 1 Lafayette Square, will hold a summer
  clearance sale of used books and gift items on Thursday, July 23 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday, July
  24 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Hundreds of titles for adults and children covering a wide range of subjects
  will be available for purchase for 50 cents each or 3/$1. Merchandise items such as t-shirts, umbrellas,
  coffee mugs, note cards, and Harry Potter goods will be sharply discounted. more


• Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Receives Big Read Grant From National Endowment For The Arts
  Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library (B&ECPL) today announced that it has
  received a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to host The Big Read in Western
  New York. The B&ECPL, in conjunction with Just Buffalo Literary Center, is one of 269 libraries,
  municipalities, and arts, culture, higher education, and science organizations to receive a grant to host
  The Big Read from September 2009 - June 2010. The Big Read in WNY will focus on The Great
  Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Activities will take place during the months of September, October and
  November. more


• Central Library To Hold Summer Reading Block Party Saturday
  Buffalo, NY-- The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library will host a Summer Reading Kickoff
  Block Party on Saturday, June 20 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Central Library, 1 Lafayette
  Square. The Block Party will feature music by Glenn Colton, a story hour with guest readers, games,
  crafts, prizes, a visit from the Buffalo Fire Department and much more. The Block Party is free and
  open to the public. more


• Get Graphic! Book Published, Available For Sale
  Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library and its partners in Get Graphic! The
  World in Words and Pictures has announced the publication of a graphic novel created entirely by
  teenagers from Western New York. The book was published courtesy of Hein Publishing, who was
  a partner in the project. more
