ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY STATS ANNOUNCED
Dignitaries gathered at the Julia Boyer Reinstein Library on Losson Road today to mark the one year anniversary of the Cheektowaga Public Library - Public Computer Center (PCC). Over the course of the past year, more than 900 people have used the Library’s Computer Center for free public access computing services and instruction. There have been 100 training classes on topics ranging from Microsoft Basics to Online Resources for Job Searches, File Management, and Introduction to Facebook, Google and Twitter. Year one showed a 98% patron satisfaction level.
Christine Bazan, director, Cheektowaga Public Libraries and Mark Weber, chairman of the Cheektowaga Library Board of Trustees welcomed Mary Ann Stiefvater, the PCC project coordinator representing the New York State Education Department; Thomas Mazur, Erie County legislator; Mary Holtz, Cheektowaga Town supervisor and Mary Jean Jakubowski, director, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System, as well as other dignitaries.
The Cheektowaga Public Library PCC was one of thirty libraries in the state funded with a $244,517 grant provided by the New York State Library Broadband Technology Program funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The Julia Boyer Reinstein Computer Center features 13 new laptop computers and 8 new desktop computers all offering high speed broadband access. One month ago, a second PCC location opened at the Anna M. Reinstein Memorial Library at 2580 Harlem Road with ten laptop computers.

Free Wi-Fi and computers are available for use in all of the 37-branches of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System. In 2011, there were 842,769 total computer hours logged throughout the Library System. The Library System has more than three million items in its collection of books, periodicals, rare publications and documents, DVDs, CDs and e-content materials.
