AIDS Memorial Quilt at Central Library - Nov. 29 - Dec. 8, 2013

In recognition of December 1 as World AIDS Day, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library at 1 Lafayette Square, downtown Buffalo, is hosting a display of two large sections of the NAMES Project National AIDS Memorial Quilt, as well as local AIDS quilts from Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 8. The display, along with informational materials and resource tables by a coalition of local AIDS service groups, will be available for viewing during regular open hours.

There will be several special programs planned around the display, all free and open to the public, including:

Sunday, December 1 Ceremony in honor of World AIDS Day 2013   2 – 3 p.m.

Students, families, the faith community, and local AIDS/health/community organizations will be joined by elected officials to commemorate World AIDS Day with a Reading of the Names Ceremony.

Monday, December 2  Town Hall Meeting   6- 8 p.m.   Library Auditorium  
Topic: The State of Sexual Health and Buffalo’s Youth

 Wednesday, December 4   School Tours/Workshops  12 noon-2 p.m.

 Several schools are participating.

 This project is a collaboration of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, The AIDS Institute, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Erie County Department of Health, Evergreen Health Services, AIDS Network of WNY, PRIDE Center of WNY, Erie County Medical Center, Planned Parenthood of WNY, Women & Children’s Hospital/Kaleida Youth Link, Leave a Legacy, and the Buffalo Faith Community.
