Located on the corner of Highland Avenue, three blocks south of the 20A/277 intersection. Wheelchair accessible. Parking lot available.

All computers are networked, including 2 laptops with wireless printing and a workstation with a flatbed scanner available. All computers have Microsoft Office 2007 Applications, Internet Access, Misc. "What can I do at a Public Access Computer?"

Printing 10 cents B&W per page, 25 cents color per page.

Meeting Room

Capacity 50. Wireless internet access point in room for excellent WiFi. Meeting room is also equipped for multimedia presentations. Used for library programs, available for use by nonprofit organizations (registration required call 662-9851). 

 

Study Area and Quiet Reading Room

What's Special About the Orchard Park Library

Located adjacent to the historic 1920s Railroad Depot Station, the Orchard Park Library serves southern Erie County as a center for reference and homework help with its large non-fiction collection. It has an extensive fiction, DVD and audio book collection. The children's collection is highlighted by innovative special displays and an interactive play area.  A chessboard is available for public use.

Special programs for all ages, story times for children and computer classes are offered continually.

And finally and most importantly, it is our knowledgeable and responsive staff that makes our library so effective, friendly and welcoming.

Our Friends of the Orchard Park Public Library is the largest and most active Friends group in Erie County. They sponsor the 4th Tuesday speaker series, many of our special children's programs, quarterly donated book sales, an annual rare book sale and ongoing Book Nook, Cart and online book sales (www.ebay.com/usr/oplibrary).  Friends have purchased many shelves, display
units and other equipment that make this library so special. New members

OCTOBER EVENTS 


CHILDREN'S EVENTS


Early Bird Toddler Time begins at 10:00 am on Mondays f rom September 11th - October 16th- A fun and gentle introduction to reading and group activities geared for children age 2. This program features age appropriate stories, activities, music & movement and a craft. Registration begins Monday, August 21st. Registration is required. 
 
Little Later Toddler Time Class begins at 11:00 am on Mondays from September 11th - October 16th. A fun and gentle introduction to reading and group activities geared for children age 2. This program features age appropriate stories, activities, music & movement and a craft. Registration begins Monday, August 21st.

Preschool Story Time begins at 10:30am on Tuesdays from September 12th - October 17th. Help your child get excited about reading and develop preschool readiness skills at the library! This program features several age appropriate books, and hands-on activities that reinforce the themes of the stories! Get ready for school and have fun at the library! Registration begins Monday, August 21st. Registration is required. 
 
Independent Preschool Story Time Sessions are at 10:30am on Thursdays from September 14th - October 19th. Help your child get excited about reading and develop preschool readiness skills at the library with several age appropriate books, hands-on activities that reinforce the themes of the stories! Children at this story time are encouraged to attend independently while their caregiver enjoys the library! Registration begins Monday August 21st.
 
Lapsit Story Hours Lapsit begins at 10:30am on Fridays from September 15th through October 20th.  Class will introduce toddlers ages 6—18 months to reading and group activities from the comfort and security of your lap! Caregivers are encouraged to help their child participate in the age appropriate stories, activities and music. Registration begins Monday, August 21st. Registration is required.
 
Make it Mondays Mondays September 11th through October 15th from 3pm - 5pm. Come check out our mobile maker space. Includes Sphero Robots, iPads, Stop Animation Camera, Button Maker, Crafts & More! Registration is required. 
 
LEGO Club! Saturday September 16th & Saturday October 14 at 1pm. Join in to complete LEGO challenges and explore a different LEGO theme every month! For children 5 and up.  Sign up begins on the first day of each month. 
 
Hawk Creek Presents "Tiny Talons" This hands on program gives children the opportunity to discover their kinship with animals and nurture their curiosity for the natural world. Learn what makes a raptor unique among birds. Each presentation inludes storytelling, three small birds of prey, plus touchable animal artifacts. This is an all ages program. 
 
Intermediate Chess Workshop Sunday October 22nd from 1:15pm-3:00pm. Learn techniques of the game with this two hour long workshop taughte by official USCF Chess Coach Michael McDuffie. Free and open to chess enthusiasts ages 10 & up. Chess boards and pieces will be provided. Please bring a pad and a pencil/pen. Please call the library or stop in to register. 
 
Spooky Stories with Annemarie Jason Monday, October 23rd at 6:30pm Visit the Orchard Park Library and listen to some fun and spooky stories by Anne Marie Jason! Get in the spirit of the Halloween Season! Best for families with children ages 4-10. Registration begins October 2nd! 

Friends of the Orchard Park Library Annual Halloween Party! Thursday October 26th from 6pm-7:30pm. Join us at the library for treats, crafts and silly Halloween stories.  Costumes encouraged, and there may even be Super Heroes sightings!

 
Halloween Crafts presented by BookendS teen service group on Saturday, October 28th at 1pm. 
 

TEEN EVENTS


BookendS Teen Book Club Teen book club meets Wednesday, October 18th. Open to teens in grades 5-12.BookendS is for you if you love books and want to hang out with other people who love books too. For October we are reading the book "Posted" by John David Anderson! For questions or more details about this program, call 662-9851. Registration is not required.  

BookendS Teen Service Group

**Attention Teens in grades 5 & up**

The Orchard Park Library needs teen volunteers interested in completing community service to run a monthly children's craft program! In October the craft program will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 1pm. Teens can sign up to prepare crafts from 10am-1pm, to run the children's program from 1pm-2pm, and to clearn up from 2pm - 3pm. Teens can sign up to participate in this community service opportunity in 1 hour shifts, for a maxiumum of 5 hours of service. Volunteer space is limited, and all volunteers must fill out a volunteer application if they have never volunteered at the library before. Volunteers new to the BookendS Service Group must also have a brief orientation with Kasey Mack the supervising librarian. Please call 662-9851 for more information. 

Volunteers are also needed to help run the Friends of the Library Halloween Party on Thursday October 26th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Please call if you are between the ages of 12-18 and you are interested in volunteering to help out at this event. 

ADULT EVENTS


BPOvations presents A Day at the Office Orchestra Edition Monday, October 2nd 6:30-7:30 What happens in a professional symphony rehearsal? What is it like like to work with a different guest artist each week? How do musicians perform three different concerts with different music in a single weekend? Trombonist Tim Smith answers all these questions and more. 

Book a Technology Trainer Thursday, October 12th from 1pm-4pm Need computer assistance? We can help! these free 45 minute sessions are designed to assist with software support or Internet training. Registration is required. Please call 662-9851 to register.

Adult Coloring Club Monday October 16th from 6pm-8:30pm. Stop by to unplug and re-focus your mind with coloring at the library! Registration is not required. 

Introduction to Essential Oils Tuesday October 17th at 7PM Essential oils provide options for our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing. This is true for every person, every age & also true for our pets! This is an all ages program. Registration not required.

Friends of the Library present 4th Tuesday Speaker Series - on Tuesday, October 24th at 7pm, Buffalo Historical Society will present "Western New York during WWI" in honor of the 100th anniversary of the american entry into the war.

Special Book Sale

Friday, November 3rd from 3pm-5pm 

Saturday,November 4th from 10am-2pm

The Special Sale is held annually. This sale includes rare, out-of-print, collectible books, some first editions and some signed by the author. Each book is individually priced at a fraction of what it would sell for by dealers or online. Come check it out and add some real treasures to your collection.

ADULT EVENTS


 

BPOvations Presents "The Artist as an Engineer" Monday November 6th at 6:30pm. Did you know that a professional bassoonist bust be exceptional in not one but two crafts? In addition to performaing, a double reed player must be able to create reeds that produce their instrument's sound. BPO Second Bassoonist Max Pipinich demonstrates this task. Registration is not required. 

David Nagel MD presents his new book Needless Suffering on Tuesday November 14th at 7pm. David Nagel MD, local author and physician presents his instights into the state of chronic pain treatment in America through both his perosnal and professional experiences. Registratoin is not required to attend this program. 

Adult Coloring Club Monday November 20th from 6pm-8:30pm. This program is for adults ages 17 and above to stop in, un-plug and refocus through theraputic coloring. Supplies and different coloring pages will be provided each meeting, but you may certainly bring your own as well. Registration is not required. See you there!

Introduction to Windows 10 Tuesday November 28th from 2pm - 4pm. An introduction to Windows 10 the latest operating system from Microsoft. Students will become familiar with the desktop, Microsoft Edge and the Windows Store. Registration is required. 

4th Tuesday Speaker Series Tuesday November 28th at 7pm Speaker TBA 

Knitting Club meets every Wednesday at 7:30pm. This meeting is open to the public and can accomodate all skill levels. If you've never knitted before and don't know where to begin, we can help! We have needles and yarn and experienced staff to help you get started. No registration is required.
