Windows Desktop

Many useful programs and applications are located on the Desktop. They are represented by icons (a small picture that represents programs/applications loaded on the computer). Examples of icons include:

My Computer: Lets you browse through your computer system.

Network Neighborhood: If you are on a network, displays the other computers.

Recycle Bin:Stores the files you delete and allows you to recover them later. (Not available on Library workstations.)

Start button:

• Start a program (lists all available applications)
• Find documents: Allows quick and easy access to the last 15 files used through "My Recent Documents." (Not available on Library workstations.)
• Get Help
• Properly Shut Down your computer
